The Public Transport Agency at the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced that the Agency’s Maintenance and Services Department managed to get the first place in rationalizing expenditures at the RTA departments level with an amount that reached Dhs29.6m in 2012 through launching efficient strategic initiatives in this domain.
Director of Maintenance and Services at the Agency Omar bin Haidar, said, “The Department’s plan consisted of a number of effective strategies that included key angles mainly the formation of a work team in charge of rationalizing expenses, launching awareness and educative campaigns among the Department’s staff, encouraging employees towards creativity in this regard, reviewing the executed initiatives implemented in previous years, minimizing the operational cost in a percentage that reached (19%) and increasing revenues resulted from repairing incidents at the Authority’s workshop in a percentage of (151%) of the year 2012.”
Bin Haidar, explained, “The Agency has formed an in-house team at the Department’s level to launch awareness and educative campaigns by concentrating on the required approaches to rationalize expenditures and increase revenues as the basis for the preparation of the operational scheme. It also promoted the concept of quality in performance and reducing operational costs at its affiliate worksites, organized regularly brainstorming sessions at the level of the organizational units at the Department.”
