UAE indices rise as volatility continues

UAE indices gained even though a majority of stocks ended lower yesterday as volatility continued on both markets.

Led by Emaar Properties, which was the most active stocks in terms of value traded, the Dubai Financial Market General Index closed 1.14 per cent higher to end at 2888.24.

The total volume of shares traded on DFM was 424.71 million, valued at Dh570.16, which was a substantial from Tuesday?s value of Dh790.36 million. Of the 31 stocks traded, 14 advanced, 13 retreated and four remained flat.

For the third straight day, Emaar had the highest turnover. The total shares traded stood at 20.34 million, which were worth Dh127.09 million. The share price of the exchange?s biggest stock in terms of its weight on the index climbed 1.95 per cent to Dh6.28.
