Grandma forces son to care for grandchild

The Women and child Protection Wing at the Department of Human Rights, helped an elderly woman who demanded that her abandoned grandson was taken care of by his father.

Explaining the case, the boy?s parents were divorced, his mother left the country as his father was responsible for his custody.

However, the man married again and sent the boy to his mother [the boy?s paternal grandmother].

The elderly woman did take care of the child for some time, but she could not carry on as she had no financial support and her health was deteriorating.

The officials summoned the man and informed him of legal action if he evades the responsibility of his son.

The man, ultimately, signed a pledge taking responsibility of his child.
