RAK school teacher cleared of beating pupil

Education authorities in Ras Al Khaimah cleared a female teacher from charges of beating a primary school boy with a plastic pipe, saying she had lightly hit his hands with a ruler to calm him down.

The pupil?s mother had accused the teacher of torturing her son with a plastic pipe in front of his class mates and asked RAK education department to investigate the case.

?Investigation showed that the teacher had only slightly hit the pupil with the ruler on his hands to correct him and calm him down without causing any physical harm,? the department?s director Sumayya Al Suweidi said.

She said the pupil?s father had been summoned to the school and told that his son is not punctual in class and often causes trouble.She said the teacher is one of the most qualified teachers in the school.
