243 Abu Dhabi houses robbed in 22 months

Abu Dhabi security authorities have arrested 351 people on charges of burgling 243 houses in the capital over the past 22 months, according to a police officer.

Stolen items during the period between the start of 2013 and the end of October 2014 exceeded Dh13.2 million, including cash, jewellery, mobile phones and other electronics, said Brigadier Maktoum Al Shareefi, the capital’s Police Chief.

He told that most of the thefts took place during summer when a large number of people are away from their homes for annual holidays.

?We again call on the public to ensure they keep valuables in safe places and to use safer locking systems for their houses,? he said.
