Dubai business licences grow by 12% in Q4

Business licences issued by the Department of Economic Development DED over the final three months of 2013 rose by 12 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.

The department issued a total of 4,573 licences in the fourth quarter of 2013 as the tourism sector saw a 29 percent year-on-year increase in licensing activity.

Dubai’s commercial and professional sectors also witnessed a 12 percent and 11 percent increase, respectively, a DED statement said.

Commercial licences accounted for the highest share 73 percent of the total issued in Q4, reiterating Dubai’s prominence as a trading hub, the statement said.
