Indian student’s online honey-trap ends with Dubai Police sting

An Indian student has been sentenced to three months in jail for posing as a girl on a social networking website and conning two men to meet ?her?.

DO, 20, was also ordered by the Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance to be deported after serving his jail term in an elaborate plot of deceit and extortion.

The first victim, an Indian sales executive, NK, 32, agreed to have dinner with ?Kinda?, ?he had met online.

“No girl showed up but a young man did claiming to be Kinda?s brother.He threatened me with a pair of handcuffs he was carrying and said that his brother is a CID officer. He asked me to pay Dh25,000 or he will take me to the police station,? NK told investigators.

The victim logged a complaint with Al Rifaa police station.?To help arrest the accused red handed, the police asked the victim to arrange another meeting.

The victim asked his friend get in touch with the so called ?Kinda? on the same website.?Similarly to the first incident, ?Kinda?s brother came instead and asked for Dh25,000.

The salesman, SM, told ?Kinda?s brother? that he has only Dh5,000 in the Al Mankhool area in Dubai.

The accused accompanied SM to Al Mankhool area where he was arrested by the police.
