Permanent Committee for Labour Affairs in Dubai on Monday met to follow up the enforcement of the midday break rules throughout the emirate.
The meeting was chaired by Brigadier Obaid Moheir bin Suroor, Deputy Director-General of The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai (GDRFA-Dubai) and the chairman of the committee.
Representatives of Ministry of Labour, Dubai Municipality, Community Development Authority and private companies attended the meeting.
The committee is also overseeing the implementation of the preventive measures to protect outdoor workers against the summer heat.
The federal Ministry of Labour’s three-month mandatory midday break, announced earlier this month, began on 15th June and will end on 15th September.
The annual ban is aimed at preventing labourers from carrying out any sort of work under direct sunlight between 12.30pm and 3pm throughout the three- month period.
