Abu Dhabi housing rules’ checks begin: 3 per room, 1 family per unit

The Municipality of Abu Dhabi has launched the second phase of its campaign of ?No to Random Housing?.

The campaign aims at regulating housing in the capital and the municipality said in a statement that the second phase will include the implementation of the rules and inspections to monitor over-crowding in residential buildings and villas.

The Rules:

-?????? The municipality states that as per occupancy rules the number of occupants per dwelling room may not exceed three persons (for authorized bachelors classes) in buildings.

-?????? Partition of units for leasing is only allowed with prior permission from the municipality.

-?????? A housing unit must be dedicated to one family only, whether the dwelling unit is an apartment, a detached villa or an independent villa.

Violators will be referred for prosecution.
