Jail for man who forged documents to get loan in Dubai

A former public sector employee has lost his legal battle and will have to spend two years behind bars for forging documents to become eligible for a Dh100,000 bank loan to pay off his debts.

The 38-year-old Egyptian, who worked at the Ministry of Economy, forged his salary certificate issued on behalf of the ministry by increasing his salary from Dh11,000 to Dh20,000 and forging a bank statement to apply for a personal loan.

The Dubai Appeal Court rejected the defendant?s appeal and upheld his two-year imprisonment.
